TOKYO, Japan - Japan Racing Association (JRA) jockey Yukio Okabe, who has won a record 2,943 races, announced his retirement from horse racing at a press conference in Tokyo on March 10. Okabe, at 56 the oldest active JRA jockey, debuted in 1967 and quickly stole the limelight with 54 victories the following year.
